Janet Story Transcript

I was having a rough time in my life. I was unfortunately drinking too much. I was at an Olive Garden, drank a little too much, thought I was fine to drive home, drove home. Lucky for me, I did get home. I didn’t know that I had hit a light post in my neighborhood on the way into my house. An hour later, I got a knock on my front door and two policemen were at my door.

They asked if they could see my car, and I was happy to show my car, had no idea why. They asked me where I had gotten the smashed front fender, and I said I didn’t know. They said, “Do you mind if we open your garage door?” and I opened the door, and there were two police cars in the driveway, and at that time, they took me in and charged me with a DUI.

It just scared me because I had never really done that before. I didn’t know what had happened. I had a lawyer friend who I had called before, and he said, “You’re in trouble. You need a lot of help.” And I said, “What do I do?” And he said, “I’ll give you a name. Her name is Kim Fry. She’s the only person I trust.”

When I went to talk to Kim, I felt so at ease. She went through the whole process. She made sure that I understood this wasn’t going to be easy because it was serious. I decided to put myself in a treatment center. Kim wanted to see me get better, and that meant a lot to me. When I went to court, she went in and talked to the judge about what I had done. She was able to use the fact that I went to treatment and that I had spent nine months away, and I did more than they felt like anybody had, and so the judge said that I did not have to go to jail.

My life today — I have a better relationship with my children. It’s been over six years, alcohol-free. The Fry Law Group was absolutely outstanding. I think she was an awesome lawyer. If I ever had a friend in need of a DUI lawyer, I would immediately call her. I can’t think of any reason why you wouldn’t.
